The weaver are highly skilled as the art of weaving shawls have been passed on through generations from father to son as a precious possession of art. The source of cashmere/pashmina is the wool of the mountain Alps goat known as CAPRA HIRCUS, found in the mountainous regions of Tibet and Central Asia in the Himalayas. The wool is gathered from the undercoat of the Himalayan mountain goat when they are shedding their winter coat, and collected during the spring. This wool is known for its extraordinary quality of softness, warmness and lightness. Each goat yielding about 3-8 ounces of wool per year. The pashmina yarn is so fine that its requires an annul fiber growth of 7-8 goats for weaving one shawl. At our manufacturing unit we blend pashmina with silk for strength, shine and durability of the shawls.
