the company
Rashika
pashmina is a renowned Handloom Cashmere/Pashmina manufacturer and exporter
of Nepal. The company is located in the capital city of Nepal, Kathmandu.
The manufacturing unit and showroom is in the northern part of Kathmandu
valley at Maharajgunj. Our products are woven entirely by hand and we
deliver only the best quality of cashmere/pashmina products. We have been
in business for more than 18 years and now have specialized in producing
export standard quality pashmina products. We have resorted to only hand
woven shawls keeping in mind the tradition of hand weaving and quality
of pashmina products. We also aim to serve the social cause of the country
and are employing over 70 workers in various works related to the manufacture
of pashmina shawls (see The Making for related
works). The weaver are highly skilled as the art of weaving shawls have
been passed on through generations from father to son as a precious possession
of art. The source of cashmere/pashmina is the wool of the mountain Alps
goat known as CAPRA HIRCUS, found in the mountainous regions of Tibet
and Central Asia in the Himalayas. The wool is gathered from the undercoat
of the Himalayan mountain goat when they are shedding their winter coat,
and collected during the spring. This wool is known for its extraordinary
quality of softness, warmness and lightness. Each goat yielding about
3-8 ounces of wool per year. The pashmina yarn is so fine that its requires
an annul fiber growth of 7-8 goats for weaving one shawl. At our manufacturing
unit we blend pashmina with silk for strength, shine and durability of
the shawls.
